Bullers Wood School for Boys Update – May 2020
Bullers Wood School for Boys opened in September 2018, and now has 360 students on roll in Years 7 and 8. In their last visit to the school, the Department for Education declared that we are “an impressive establishment”. Construction of the main school building continues at Chislehurst Road and is still on schedule for completion by January 2021.
Additional classrooms were due to be erected adjacent to our temporary building to accommodate an additional 180 Year 7 boys from September 2020. These extra classrooms would have been installed over the 2020 summer holidays. However, the Department for Education have concluded that, with the possibility of continued COVID-19 restrictions, there is unfortunately now a risk that it will not be possible to deliver these in time. Therefore, the Department for Education have made the decision to operate a split site school for one term from September 2020.
This means that Years 8 and 9 will remain at the Chislehurst Road site and the new Year 7 Cohort will be located at 1 Westmoreland Road.
We understand that this news may be disappointing for students and their parents. However, having operated the School successfully from 1 Westmoreland Road previously, the Trust is confident that this accommodation will provide Bullers Wood School for Boys with the facilities to deliver high quality teaching and learning to our students.
The Trust will be contacting all parents and carers with further information about this change, as well as providing them with an opportunity to have their questions answered.
