Sidcup Beekeepers Visit Year 8

Year 8 enjoyed finding out about bees in Science Week.

David Rae and Kirsty Bulmer from Sidcup Beekeepers came in to speak about these fascinating and important creatures and answered some of the many questions the girls asked.

They explained that honey bees and other insects are vital to world food supplies.  We are threatening their very survival, so what can we do about it?

The talk included lots of fascinating bee facts, such as:

*Why the stinger uses the fastest muscle in nature

*Why bees have hairy eyeballs and smelly feet

Thank you to the Sidcup Beekeepers for coming in to give such an interesting talk to our students.
